Hair Transplant

in Bangkok, Thailand

Hair transplant is a surgical technique that involves moving individual hair follicles from one part of the body to bald or balding parts. The grafts containing hair follicles that are genetically resistant to balding are transplanted to the bald scalp. Since this is a surgical procedure, care should be exercised in choosing a surgeon and technique that will be used for transplanting hair. These hairs then grow naturally and can be trimmed and styled normally. Donor hair is taken from the back or the sides of the scalp area since these parts of the scalp are bald resistant.

We use follicular unit transplantation with microscopic dissection, a state-of-the-art technique in hair transplantation such as open technique donor harvesting the finest method gives the lowest hair transection combine with lower Trichophytic closure and retention sutures to minimize donor scar that sets a high standard for all hair transplant specialists.

The growth rate success in our hands is over 95%, but it is almost impossible to count the transplanted hairs and compare their numbers to what was moved. This percentage may fall on new bald patients, for he has no scaring yet. Scaring will be a factor of low percentage of growth hair. Scaring typically means decreased blood flow and this can possibly mean a lower grafts survival rate.

Transplant operations are performed on an outpatient basis, with mild sedation and injected local anaesthesia, which typically last about six hours.

SIDE EFFECT: Minor and temporary side effects of a hair transplant can include headaches due to the tugging and manipulation of the scalp area during the procedure, a small amount of bleeding which is normal, numbness or scalp tenderness and temporary thinning of pre-existing hair.  Both thinning of pre-existing hair and scalp numbness occurs in a good majority of hair transplant procedures, but is temporary condition. Another less common side effect is swelling which usually occurs around the forehead and the eye area.

Regular shampooing and using saline to moisturize the grafts usually helps to minimize this condition.
