Seda

A New World

For Seda, a 22 year-old transgender woman from Istanbul, Turkey, her travel to Thailand for gender confirmation surgery was the first time she had been outside of her country. Along with that, naturally, she was a bit nervous and not quite sure what to expect. That situation was soon remedied. Even the slightest hesitation she may have felt soon melted away once she was introduced to the physicians and staff in person. Already she had heard of Kamol Hospital's solid reputation from other people in Turkey who had made the hospital their destination for surgeries. Combined with her own research, Seda knew Kamol was the right place for her.  A tour of the hospital grounds reassured her and made her “feel very excited and very happy at the same time!”

After three weeks, Seda felt even more confident and knew that her surgery had gone well. It put her on the path to fulfilling her dreams.  And with Seda that means making the most out of life, achieving her ambitions, and doing so while remaining grounded, both emotionally and physically. Seda also feels that her experience has been another step that allows her life to be played out as God wills it. She believes gender confirmation surgery was part of the path she is destined to follow.

As with many other patients at Kamol, Seda feels that she has undergone a rebirth, a new beginning. In the past, the life she had constructed was good. She was optimistic about it. But now that she has completed her surgery, Seda has even more faith in the future. What it brings and the opportunities gained from her gender confirmation surgery will make things better and better. “Everything went well for me,” says Seda, “I am very happy. Everything is perfect.”
